- This study concerned the question of whether athletes do as well as or better than non-athletes in their junior college and college grades. In reviewing previous studies concerning this same basic question, it was found that most of the studies concluded that there is no appreciable difference in the grades of the athlete and the non-athlete. The results of this study also showed that athletes do as well as non-athletes in their academic endeavors.

- Description:
- The School of Social Work at Fresno State College has, since its "beginning in September, I964, awarded the Master of Social Work degree to four classes of graduated students. The School presently has two more classes in the process of earning their Master of Social Work degrees and each new class has been larger than the preceding class. The School is in a state of evolving and developing with respect to larger numbers of students and formulation of its curriculum and objectives. The results of this study, therefore, are not intended to be directly applicable to the present curriculum. However, for the School of Social Work to more effectively plan and/or evaluate its curriculum and objectives for the future, it is first necessary to know something about the descriptive characteristics of the alumni produced by the School in the past. There has been, to date, no systematic study of the characteristics of the students who have been graduated by the Fresno State College School of Social Work. The purpose of this study was to survey one descriptive characteristics of the graduate alumni, with special focus in reference to stated objectives of the School.
