- Equality for women representation has long been an issue in the United States. It is incredible that today in 2020 there is still real concern that Congress may regain control over what women can do with their own bodies. The purpose of this study is to examine the connection between increased representation for women in US politics and the affect it has on policies regarding issues that primarily affect women. The study will be used to investigate the connection between the rise of women in US politics and the increase of women centered policy. By analyzing the data demonstrating the increase of women elected and participating in US politics, this study helped demonstrate that there is a significant connection between the two. The study showed how an increase of women in US politics lead to the increase in policies such as maternity leave, abortion and sexual harassment. The analyzed data was from the 1992 to 2019. The increase of women in politics played a huge role in the increase of policies addressing issues that mainly affect women's lives. This study answers the question between correlation regarding women participation in US politics and policies affecting women. Women are still not close to achieving equal representation but are closer than ever before. We shouldn't forget the things that women have fought for, for so long women

- Traditional democratic theory states members of Congress shall respond to the issues to which their constituents are paying attention, which are often local issues. However, Congress is also a national body and has a responsibility for national issues. This establishes a dichotomy that puts a tension on democratic practices and responsibility. One way to measure this tension is to examine if and when Congress focuses on the same issues that the public does. This paper examines this overlap of institutional and systemic agendas using a proof of concept test. The institutional agenda is measured by bill introduction for economic policy topics using the Congressional Bills Project dataset and coded by the Comparative Agendas Project. The systemic, public agenda is measured using internet search data of the nation, specifically Google Trends. These two datasets are correlated across the time period of the 114th Congress. The results suggest that there is a high rate of overlap in the agendas for a majority of economic policy topics.

- The scientific community is in consensus that climate change exists and that human activity significantly contributes to it. While this fact is increasingly becoming common knowledge, there is little action taking place in the United States Congress because proponents of legislation to combat climate change do not have a majority. Legislation that would combat climate change often involves regulation which would lead to fewer profits for industries that would be affected by this legislation. Research suggests that these industries make investments to safeguard their profits in the form of contributions to the campaigns of members of Congress. The members of Congress who are the most active opponents of climate change legislation tend to be the recipients of the most generous donations of industries whose profits would be negatively affected by this legislation. While there cannot be definitive results, the findings do suggest that there is a link between monetary contributions to a Congressperson's campaign and whether they oppose legislation that would combat climate change.

- The congressional black caucus is seen as the leading legislative advocate for African Americans in government. Before the Civil Rights Act of 1964, African Americans were excluded from the political process and consequently treated as a sub-group disassociated from the general populace of America. Later in 1971, during the high point of Black Power movements, when African Americans desired political influence and demanded the government advocate for the needs of the black community the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) formally emerged, numerous civil and economic, legislative causes are supported. The existence of the CBC and the proliferation of racially based caucuses raises issues seldom examined in literature in the legal process. My topic contributes to American politics by evaluating if the congressional black makes a contribution to the black community or is merely a symbolic organization with limited influence. This paper if black legislators make a distinctive impact in Congress as the engine prescribed as the voice for blacks, ensuring that that African Americans have an equal opportunity to achieve the American Dream. The methodology for this thesis is a simple quantitative and qualitative study. In order to test the research question, it is essential to evaluate if there is significant correlation to the frequency of legislation addressing salient issue of black America and the Congressional Black Caucus during the Obama Administration. to test this relationship, I will use bill introduction to test the number of times members of the 111th - 114th congress propose legislation themed around the CBC agenda: Voter Rights Restoration, Criminal justice reform, social safety net programs, investment in black colleges, and workforce diversity. Many scholars argue black legislator should be more effective during the Administration of the first African American President. However, I disagree and my goal is the prove the CBC is a symbolic organization and does not successfully implement their agenda. In order to express this, I will use the library of congress database to look through the congressional record and target legislation prescribed within the CBC agenda. My original data will use descriptive statistics by evaluating the behaviors of CBC members and non- members in the United States Congress is essential to identifying distinction of African American representatives. Specifically, the spreadsheet will be organized into five categories, 1 voter right, 2 criminal justice reform, 3 social wellness programs, 4. Investment into HBCU's, 5 workforce diversity. Then this spreadsheet, will be inputted into SPSS. to measure my data, I will look at the variables to determine if CBC members propose a larger quantity social justice legislation. I will collect the total number of legislators who support similar policies and create a ratio showing the similarity of CBC members.
