Two new Orthopteran hosts of North American Polideini (Diptera: Tachinidae)

Two new orthopteran hosts of North American Polideini were recently discovered. Dichocera lyrata was obtained from Pristoceuthophilus marmoratus (Orthoptera, Raphidophoridae) specimens collected in mid to late October 2003 from Topanga Canyon, Santa Monica Mountains, Los Angeles County, California, in an area of mixed coast live oak (Quercus agrifolia) and grassland bordering chaparral. Exoristoides johnsoni was obtained from Gryllus integer (Orthoptera, Gryllidae) specimens collected on 9 August 2002 from high desert near Holbrook, Navajo County, Arizona. These new records are particularly noteworthy because orthopteran hosts of Tachinidae are not as well known as hosts in the major orders attacked, such as Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, Hymenoptera and Hemiptera.
