Effectiveness of Vapor Corrosion Inhibitors Compared with Nitrogen Blanketing

The corrosion behavior of steel samples used for storage tanks and cross casing pipe applications was investigated using two different protection mechanisms: a vapor phase corrosion inhibitor and a nitrogen blanketing system. The objective of this project was to demonstrate which technique provides more protection in corrosive environments, especially where there are restricted geometries such as crevices, threads, notches, and underdeposits.
