Information in the context of education

Information and information processes are corner stones of education. However, the knowledge about these processes given by conventional information theories is not adequate to the peculiarities of education. That is why these theories are not efficiently applied to the problems of education. In this paper, we consider a new approach in information sciences. It is called the general theory of information. It is demonstrated how the new knowledge obtained in the general theory of information provides a new insight for teaching and learning.
