Paradigm shift in language convention-the case of multiplication of new proverbs in Chinese in the digital age

In the language convention equation for a long time the government plays a major role in Chinese. Since 1949, when the Peoples Republic of China was founded, Chinese used on mainland China has been much influenced, if not prescribed, by official government decrees, government official media and government supported literary publications. This has held true until very recently when Internet use became prevalent. This study of newly coined Chinese proverbs demonstrates that nowadays the tide of authority is being reversed and even the language used by the government’s official media is being influenced by the populace or in other words by the people the media tries to influence.
