Esports: influencing eLeadership skills and academic performance

Collegiate esports, video games played competitively between college level teams or individuals, are allowing Universities to further develop student success by utilizing the passion for gaming as a primary motivating factor. The aim of this project is to investigate influencing factors behind students’ engagement in esports. Students who actively participate in college esports can better develop their leadership skills, and eventually improve their academics, over students who are not involved in college esports. To show how college esports can be used to improve leadership abilities in students, this model highlights: 1. Perceived Persuasiveness of Technology 2. Self-Efficacy in Playing Esports 3. Identity with the Esports Community.
