The Non-Profit Industrial Complex’s Effect on Civil Society

The privatization of the third sector has resulted in non-governmental agencies to step into the role of meeting civil society needs due to the government abandonment of these services. This sector is a trillion-dollar industry comprised of a complex interactions of practices, models, institutions, and bureaucracies. The privatization of these services has created the non-profit industrial complex which has separated social service provisions from social justice.
