In order to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels for energy, a small-scale, lowprofile wind turbine designed specifically for large buildings in urban areas is designed and manufactured. The following report breaks down the viability of the turbine. The need for such a unique product is compared to more generic wind turbines currently available on the market. The idea, broken down to simple requirements, determines which aspects of such a wind turbine should take precedence in the overall design. A conceptual analysis is completed to prove that a wind turbine can withstand the forces of wind typical of San Francisco, California, but create a sufficient amount of electrical power, while being aesthetically pleasing and easily adaptable to existing buildings. Once the proposed wind turbine has been built, prototype testing is completed to pinpoint areas of improvement.
