Needs Assessment of South LA: Pico-Union

Pico-Union is a historically low-income neighborhood in the heart of Los Angeles. For decades, this community has evolved from one community of color to the next, but despite the evolution this part of Los Angeles remains poor. Statistics are dismal for the low-income families living in this neighborhood, despite various nonprofit agencies assisting community members in this area. Children are often victim to domestic violence, women and men are subject to deportation, and parents are left alone to navigate the difficulties of acculturation without support from surrounding agencies. This needs assessment seeks to identify the most pressing needs for families living in South LA. With the uncovered information, data has shown that families most desire well-paying jobs, the education to obtain well-paying jobs, and affordable housing.
