A Program proposal to implement a text messaging system for the Bakersfield Association of REALTORS®
The Bakersfield Association of REALTORS® has experienced challenges in recent years with the current method of communicating information to members about events and dues billing assessments. This problem has led to lower attendance at Association events, and increased late dues billing assessments. Consequently, this can result in increased member frustration and opportunity loss. A 2012 Membership Satisfaction Survey revealed that over half of member participants desired a text-messaging system to be utilized by the Association as a form of communication. It is proposed that a text messaging system should be implemented in order to better serve members. A text-messaging system will assist the Association in increasing opportunity awareness by communicating information about events, and upcoming dues billing notices. A text messaging system will assist the organization in becoming pro-active in providing members with the most up-to-date information regarding the Association. Program implementation consists of many steps to prepare for a smooth transition. Key stakeholders such as the Board of Directors, staff, and Association members are all vital players in program implementation. Once program implementation has concluded, the text messaging system will be a new tool for staff to communicate with members on a large scale, or on a personal basis. By providing members with this tool, the Association will be fulfilling a part of the organization’s mission, and providing a service that is defining this service organization apart from others.
