Integrando dos mundos (integrating two worlds): an art based narrative activity book for Central American children finding their place between two cultures

Immigration is a social phenomenon that the United States is built upon. It is extremely important to address the process of integrating two cultures, in order to aide immigrant children struggling through the "American way". The purpose of this project was to create an interactional art-based narrative activity book for Central American immigrant children, between the ages of six and ten, which addresses issues regarding immigration and balancing bi-cultural identities in the United States. By exploring these themes through an artistic and story-telling component, the complex acculturative process and stance between two cultures may be eased for the child in the present and in later life cycle stages. These activities may provide a glimpse of what the process is like for the immigrant child and family dynamics in a host society.
