Identity development through multimodal literacy
An identity development unit taught through the lens of multimodal literacy will help teachers and students create a safe classroom environment. Additionally, having all students identities celebrated in the classroom will help create a stronger sense of belonging at school for all students. This unit comprises of ten lessons. Students will learn about McCarthy and Mojo (2002) multiple identity theory and relate it to themselves. The hope of this unit is to foster stronger bonds between students, teachers, and peers.
