When hearing about it is hard : a guide for the hard of hearing

A large percentage of the hearing-impaired population of the United States is comprised of individuals who are hard of hearing. Yet, very few resources are available to those persons or their families that focus specifically on their needs. It is often segments of the hard of hearing population that have little or no ongoing contact with professionals in the field of hearing impairment. This booklet is written for the adult hard of hearing individual who may have limited access to other sources of information. The purpose of this booklet is to provide information, resources and suggestions to hard of hearing individuals in several useful areas. General suggestions and hints on hearing aids and hearing health are discussed briefly with additional resources given. Other areas of concentration are communication strategies, telecommunication devices, classroom situations, and problems on the job. The resource and information section lists other sources of information for hearing-impaired individuals.
