Latino acceptance and support for LGBT youth

High risk behaviors in LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, and Transgender) youth are directly linked to little or no acceptance from family and caretakers. This workshop was created to address the lack of resources available to Latino LGBT youth and their families that cater to their specific needs. In collaboration with Lincoln Elementary School and ELAC (English Language Advisory Committee), this workshop was able to provide Spanish speaking parents at Lincoln Elementary School tools to help support LGBT youth. Five Spanish speaking parents attended the workshop. The workshop was held in participants’ native language, and in a setting that would allow them to comfortably share their thoughts. The workshop materials also provided participants with resources that are otherwise hard to obtain. This project was created in hopes that it would create more awareness and acceptance about LGBT youth.
