Introduction to policing under homeland security

The study of homeland security is a rapidly advancing field that has been constantly evolving since September 11, 2001. While the general focus of homeland security study has been emergency management and terrorism, a widely overlooked aspect is the effect homeland security has on policing. There are a number of classes and degree programs that specialize in the field of homeland security, however, there is a gap between the study of homeland security and how it affects state and local police. This curriculum provides for an introduction to homeland security and how the laws, goals, and mission affect a variety of policing styles.
