Sibling support: for older siblings of children with Down Syndrome
There is extensive research on how having a child with special needs affects families. However this research is very general. It fails to observe closely on sibling reactions to having a sibling with Down Syndrome. This project focuses on trying to pull information about sibling reactions to a child with Down Syndrome out of many studies. More specifically, the purpose of this project is to serve as support for the older siblings ages 7-11 of children who have Down Syndrome. While there are many resources for children with Down Syndrome and their families, there are not many resources for the older siblings. Therefore this project will be an attempt to develop a nine week psychoeducational group.
