Graduate project

Development of video-based lessons for the agricultural experience tracker (AET) system

The purpose of this project was to develop curriculum-related record-keeping
and project management curriculum for a secondary agricultural program, utilizing
video-based curriculum at Gridley High School, Gridley, California. Extensive research
was conducted prior to the project implementation to determine if students truly comprehend
information better when presented as video-based instruction. The project was
designed around videos for the Agriculture Experience Tracker, a new business management
records system, where students would watch the video and then practice the skills
they learned. Students completed assessments (pre- and post-) to determine whether this
style of instruction works. Results show that students do understand material better when
they have control over the learning.
