Almost, Maine: directing a small town play

The project presented in this paper reflects my time directing and producing a production of Almost, Maine by John Cariani. The play was produced at California State University, Los Angeles on April 11-13, 2013. While directing this play I told a story about the folks in the town of Almost, Maine, on one magical February night. The audience followed these characters and through them learned the universal truths of relationships. While directing this production I challenged myself to use new directing techniques that had been learned while attending California State University, Los Angeles and techniques gleaned from internships I participated in while in school. In addition to this, I worked to develop a concept that would technically provide the show with a streamline way to tell the story of Almost.
