Vicarious Trauma and Public Health Investigators: A look into Public Health organizational intervention

Organizational and managerial intervention has been shown to be beneficial for employee well-being, efficiency, and retention rates. A gap in the literature currently exists related to Public Health Investigators (PHIs) experiencing vicarious trauma and the lack of organizational intervention. This research proposal uses DHSP, a division within Department of Public Health (DPH), as a lens, to view employee exposure to vicarious trauma and organizational interposition. This proposal aims to fill a gap in the literature of public administration, in this case, DPH, to identify currently active interventions (if any) to support employees experiencing vicarious trauma. A qualitative method will be used. The qualitative approach will examine and evaluate the data to understand employee and organizational knowledge of vicarious trauma and interventions.
