Online support group for adolescents aged 10-14 with chronic illness

Despite scientific and medical advances, consistently 10-15% of children aged 18 and younger are diagnosed with a chronic illness. Much research indicates that adolescents with chronic illness struggle to function socially, which leads to isolation, depression, and difficulty sustaining relationships with peers and family members. The purpose of this project was to develop a support group to encourage adolescents (aged 10-14) with chronic illness to build relationships and interact with their peers. Specifically, an online support group allows adolescents with chronic illness more access to their peers despite limitations such as: physical disability, ineffective family support, frequent hospitalization, and high pain sensitivity.
