Addressing the Issues: Retaining Qualified Special Education Educators

There are major issues with retaining qualified special education teachers leaving the field of special education at higher rates than any other educational position. This study used a mixed-methodology approach by surveying and interviewing special education teachers to investigate reasons why special education teachers leave the field. In addition, this study explains issues that arise when placing unqualified teachers in special education roles and this study provides possible solution to retaining qualified special education teachers.
