Internal communications role in developing professional learning communities

The purpose of this study was to examine the internal communications plan at one high school. The study focused on communications as a tool for forming professional learning communities. Quantitative data were collected through a survey of the certificated staff and the administration. Included in this study is an overview of literature demonstrating the need for good internal communications to foster professional learning communities, the consequences for schools with poor internal communications, the benefits for schools with a good internal communication plan, and the important role that good internal communications at a school site plays in the development of a professional learning community.
