Are we ready? research on Northridge resiliency indicator: planning efforts
The purpose of this mixed methods study is to explore the planning efforts towards addressing urban resilience needs for Northridge, California. Analysis of Geographic Information Systems maps, community inputs, public census data, expert interviews, and archival materials assisted in understanding the need for more cohesive planning efforts through the emphasis of social capital and community involvement. The research showed that increased collaboration with local government, neighborhood councils, and community members is required to yield successful planning efforts for resiliency in Northridge. This study determined that emergency potable water supplies are needed to increase resiliency in the neighborhood and the California State University, Northridge campus communities.
