Creating a Classroom Team: Collaborating and Communicating with Paraeducators A Resource Handbook for First-Year Teachers

Paraeducators play a vital role in general and special education classrooms through assisting the teacher, while also working with students in helping to meet their educational and social goals. Unfortunately, there is little training and resources provided to teachers in how to effectively work with paraeducators. Based on common themes presented in the literature review, a handbook was developed to help first-year special educators and general educators in working alongside their paraeducators. The handbook provides several tips, strategies, and resources that can be implemented in special and general education environments.
