The multiple-handicapped deaf
For many years now, we have been striving to improve the lot of the deaf. We�ve struggled with methods and techniques of teaching; we�ve argued about which key for straight language is best or whether we should use one at all. We cannot get together on the manner that the deaf should communicate; we do not even know if we should allow deaf children more freedom or whether we should keep them to the strict regimentation that is carried out in many residential schools. For that matter, we do not know whether to do away with residential schools or not! There is still a question whether we should integrate deaf children with hearing or not.
