Shape, surface, and color

I. Introduction These paintings evolved from a concern with shape surface, and color. The sensually decorative results were aided by the addition of a spatial illusion provided by layers of two dimensional planes. The surfaces and colors were a result of the eye looking through these layers and blending them into a single surface. The use of the nude figure, pastel hues, and rich surfaces increased the sensual results. (See more in text.)
