Optimal structural design of moderate redundant truss system using micro-computer

Many displacement limited designs with weight only optimum problem can be formulated with indirect methods. The Lagrange multiplier technique will be developed analytically and systematically to optimize such problem. Two examples of truss systems serve to illustrate the application of indirect methods. A structural design program is coded in C to demonstrate the algorithm of the technique. The program adopts a modular approach which enables the program to be used or modified to interface with any commercially available structural analysis system.
