What should Kern County Public Health Services Department be doing to reduce infant mortality rate?
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) otherwise known as “crib death”, and Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUIDs) were to be the focus of this study, and the research was to review steps that Kern County should do to reduce these rates, however it was determined that there was insufficient SUIDs data to make a valid comparison. Therefore the research was designed to review what Kern County should do to reduce the infant mortality rate, by studying the infant mortality rates of ten states, and to review their best practices and legislation. It was found that Classical Theory of Management, which is what governmental agencies i.e. the Kern County Public Health Department adheres to, make it difficult to find solutions to reduce the infant mortality rate.
