Using Mentor Texts to Improve Writing

This project has developed research-based curriculum intended to improve student writing. Through the use of mentor texts, 2nd grade students are exposed to published authors' interesting leads and introductions. Students learn through "reading like a writer" to improve their informational writing with interesting leads and introductions modified from mentor texts.
