Is the EU Failing Mediterranean Refugees?

GMA 400L - Senior Seminar Research Lab

Europe has been overwhelmed with over one million migrants that have crossed the Mediterranean Sea over the past few years. Today, migrant numbers are in decline, but EU states are still trying to catch up with the thousands of applications for asylum that have been submitted. Many states have been so preoccupied with trying to process these applications and decide on a political stance on admitting refugees that little has been done to integrate refugees. If states invest in efficient refugee integration, studies have shown that refugees will actually be a significant economic asset.
