How complementary therapies affect the overall quality of life of cancer survivors

Many Americans today are facing or have faced a diagnosis of cancer. Many have just been diagnosed and have not gone through treatment, and others are no longer dealing with symptoms and are in remission. While individuals are going through treatments, many experience negative impacts on their physical health, emotional state, mental health, attitudes towards life, their relationships with others and their financial situation. Complementary therapies is a type of alternative integrative medicine used along with conventional treatment reduce pain and physical and emotional symptoms. There are many forms of complementary therapies which include reflexology, art class, reflexology, yoga, journaling and guided imagery. Though there is not a lot of present research that looks at complementary therapies and their effectiveness, many researchers have found that these therapies do in fact have a positive impact on cancer patients overall quality of life.
