Student-teacher relationships and its connection to student motivation

The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the connection between student-teacher relationships and student motivation. This study was designed to identify techniques for building relationships and the outcomes of those relationships. The research participants included students and teachers that engaged in a 30-minute observation and 5 interview questions. Data collected from observations and interviews were analyzed and compared to establish patterns and consistencies amongst the participants. It was determined that students and teachers alike used a sense of humor, participation and behaviors to create and establish relationships.
