Depletion of Social Security & the implications for the future: an analysis of alternatives for strengthening the Social Security System
The Social Security Administration has long been a popular subject with regard to benefits running out. Baby boomers are retiring and collecting their Social Security benefits that they have earned; but there are not enough people working today contributing to the Social Security fund. The accounts are dwindling fast and many retirees sole income is from Social Security. This study gives a brief history of the Social Security Administration and discusses the ways in which the system can better serve retirees. The paper also takes into account other alternatives for Social Security to better distribute benefits to retirees and lastly stressing the importance of retirement programs other than Social Security.
